Donna June Pitts, daughter of Howard L. and Viola Kuchenreuther Watkins, was born August 1, 1937, at Blue Earth, Minnesota. She graduated from State Teachers College High School in Cedar Falls in 1954, and from Waterloo School of Beauty Culture in 1956.
She was united in marriage with Dale Boike in 1957, and later divorced. In 1972, she was married to Norman Pitts. Mr. Pitts died in 2003.
Donna owned the Edgewood Beauty Shop in Cedar Falls, the Triangle Tap in Hudson, worked in inventory control at Land O’ Lakes in Hudson, owned the Postville Bed and Breakfast, and made all the baked goods at Boike’s Restaurant in Fayette for many years.
Following a lengthy illness, Donna’s death occurred on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union. She was seventy-four years old, and had been a member of the Rambling Wheels Motorcycle Club in Cedar Falls, the Amvet Auxiliary in Hudson, and the Palmer Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary Board.
She is survived by one son, David C. (Debra) Boike of Fayette; three step children, Cindy (Mike) McFadden of Randalia, Steve Pitts of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, and Richard Pitts of Moores Fork, New York; two grandchildren, Dustin Boike of Dubuque and DyAnna (Kris) McGrane of Fayette; seven step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Karen (Gary) Darland of Marion, Iowa, Betty Jean (Franklin) Scheff of Fairmont, Minnesota; one sister-in-law, Carol Watkins of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin; and two nephews.
In addition to her husband, Norman, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Lee Roy and Roger Watkins.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Fayette Community Church with Rev. Carl Tenney officiating. Friends may call for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette is in charge of arrangements.
